Puppy Preschool.
The Shire Vet Puppy Preschool is run by 2 of our wonderful lead nurses, Emma and Brooke. Who are both accredited and certified puppy school trainers.
Our program is designed for all puppies between 8 and 15 weeks of age and only require ONE vaccination to begin class.
This is the optimal time for training and to help safely expose your puppy to new and novel experiences in a fun and safe environment. During the early months, positive socialisation, training and play is vital for the development of your puppy, all classes are conducted using positive reinforcement. This type of training has been scientifically proven to be more effective, humane and fun than other techniques.
Puppy preschool is held over 4 one hour weekly sessions and topics such as socialisation, troubleshooting problem behaviours, toilet training, nutrition & enrichment, basic obedience & commands, recall, leash walking, food manners and more are covered.

About our instructors:
Brooke and Emma both have a strong passion for canine behavior and puppy training and soon after completing nursing qualifications began additional studies in this area. They have since completed canine behavior workshops and have gained certificates as puppy preschool trainers. Brooke has also specialised in Puppy Classes through well Steve and Vicki Austin.
Brooke and Emma use up to date science based positive reinforcement methods and reward based training. They endeavour to help and guide new puppy owners and families to create a special bond with their puppy along with encouraging the development of calm, well mannered behaviours as a foundation for life.
When is the best time to start puppy preschool?
This is a very common point of confusion. As long as your puppy has had ONE vaccination, they can come to puppy preschool classes. Puppies must be under 16 weeks to join our classes.
How long is the course?
Puppy Preschool is a 4 week course, that consists of four, 1 hour lessons. Classes are held on a weeknight at 7:15pm.
Can the whole family attend the group classes?
Unfortunately, we can only allow 2 family members per puppy and must be able to remain seated for the duration of the class.
What is the cost of the 4 week course?
From $200, including take home content.
How many puppies are in our classes?
Our classes will typically have 6-7 puppies in attendance.
